چکیده

The effects of anisotropy during mixed mode fatigue crack growth were studied in single crystal 316L stainless steel. An anisotropic least-squares regression algorithm using displacements from digital image correlation was developed to find the effective stress intensity factors, KI and KII, and the T-stress. Crack tip plastic zones were determined using an anisotropic yield criterion. Strains in the plastic zone obtained from digital image correlation showed a dependence on the crystallography and load ratio. Crack tip slip irreversibility was measured and showed an increasing trend with increasing crack length; this information is critical for describing crack growth behavior. 2012 Elsevier Ltd. On the Influence of Riveting Process Parameters on Fatigue Life of Riveted Lap Joint

In this paper, influence of riveting process parameters, namely, riveting force, sheet thickness, friction coefficient and clearance fit are investigated on residual stress field and fatigue life of single riveted lap joint of AA2024 type. According to the effect of riveting induced residual stresses on fatigue life of riveted lap joint, these parameters are optimized to maximize the residual s...

Crack Behavior of the Aluminum Alloy 2024 Under Fretting Conditions

The initial stage of fretting fatigue crack growth is significantly influenced by tangential force induced by fretting action along the contact surface where a mixed-mode crack growth is involved. Fretting crack behavior of aluminum alloy 2024 was studied, taking into account the problem of contact asperities. Finite element was used for the determination of the stress field near the contact su...

Fracture Mechanics Analysis of Fourth Lumbar Vertebra in Method of Finite Element Analysis

Objective: In this paper, finite element model of the L4 vertebra subjected to combination of compression and flexion loading in isotropic and anisotropic cases is investigated. Methods: In both cases, the vertebra is considered homogeneous. Also, the body of vertebra is divided to cancellous and cortical sections in anisotropic model, but the process is assumed isotropic such as isotropic mode...

Life Estimation in the Railway Wheels Under the Influence of Residual Stress Field

This paper presents the prediction of fatigue life and crack propagation in the railway wheel due to the stress field caused by mechanical loads and press fitting process of a railway wheel. A 3-D nonlinear stress analysis model has been applied to estimate stress fields of the railway wheel in press fitting process. Finite element analysis model is presented applying the elastic–plastic fin...
